The first high-grade Grain-oriented Silicon Steel coil successfully rolled off the line at Liansteel Electromagnetic Materials Co.’s No. 4 mill on November 15. This event marks a pivotal “Xiangchanhua” leap for Hunan’s industrial chain. It significantly fills a high-end electrical steel gap in central-southern China. The product is a core material for vital sectors like power transmission and new energy vehicles.

This progress aligns with China’s “Dual Carbon” strategy. The national “New Materials Industry” plan specifically prioritizes high-magnetic, thin-gauge silicon steel. Concurrently, Hunan province has introduced supportive policies for Loudi’s advanced materials. These policies anchor silicon steel as the core of the “Materials Valley” project. They provide comprehensive land, energy, capital, and talent support. The goal is building a 100-billion-yuan silicon steel cluster during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period.

Empowered by this policy momentum, Liansteel Electromagnetic Materials focuses on premium, thin-gauge products. It leverages efficient, smart, and green manufacturing technologies. At full capacity, the project will spur a complete industrial chain in Loudi. This chain encompasses “substrate—oriented silicon steel—transformer/motor” production. It will offer a fresh “steel engine” for Hunan’s advanced manufacturing ambitions. This initial Grain-oriented Silicon Steel output signifies both a technical success and a major industrial advancement for the region.
