High manganese austenitic steel, including grades such as Mn13 and X120Mn12, is a type of high manganese steel known for its excellent toughness and remarkable surface work hardening properties. Under strong impact or extrusion loads, the stressed surface undergoes work hardening, enabling the surface hardness to increase significantly from an initial HB200 to as high as HB750, while the core of the steel plate retains good impact toughness. This combination of properties makes high manganese steel widely used in the mining equipment and machinery manufacturing industries, for applications such as shot blasting equipment and large jaw crushers.
