2025 Liangang Patent Innovation Index Up 6 digits
On August 14th, the 17th China Iron and Steel Industry Science, Technology, and Competitive Strategy Forum was grandly held. At the forum, the Metallurgical Industry Information Standards Research Institute authoritatively released the “2025 China Steel Enterprise Patent Innovation Index.” Liangang performed exceptionally well among the 182 participating steel companies, jumping to 26th place in the Patent Innovation Index and earning the title of “Enterprise with Highest Patent Innovation Potential.” Compared to 2024, Liangang’s ranking has risen six places. Even more remarkable is that Liangang has achieved a remarkable leap in ranking over the past five years, advancing 20 places cumulatively.
“China Steel Enterprise Patent Innovation Index”
The “China Steel Enterprise Patent Innovation Index” is an evaluation system constructed by screening member companies of the China Iron and Steel Association according to their production characteristics and establishing a mathematical model. The weights of the indicators are given reasonable values in combination with industry characteristics. The collected patent data is calculated through the evaluation system to derive the sub-scores and comprehensive scores of each company’s patent indicators. It is an authoritative certification of the innovation strength and core competitiveness of steel companies.
In the past five years, Liangang has attached great importance to R&D innovation capabilities and the construction of a scientific and technological innovation platform system, and has been committed to creating a first-class domestic steel research institute, using innovation-driven strategies to lead the industry’s innovative development.
The company has been approved to establish 14 national and provincial scientific and technological innovation platforms, including the National Enterprise Technology Center, the Hunan Green High-Performance Silicon Steel Engineering Technology Research Center, the Hunan Provincial Expert Workstation, and the Hunan Silicon Steel Joint Innovation Body, bringing the total to 19. The company has participated in or undertaken two national-level projects and 10 major scientific and technological innovation projects at or above the provincial level, and has promoted and implemented over 200 company-level scientific research projects. The company has been awarded 40 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards, including one national scientific and technological progress award, one China Industrial Award, and 21 first-class provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards.
The company has achieved remarkable patent success, achieving a leap forward: the number of patent applications has exploded, with the number of patent applications, patent acceptances, and patent grants increasing by 744.6%, 705.1%, and 633.8%, respectively, compared to five years ago. In 2022, the company was recognized as a National Intellectual Property Advantage Enterprise and won two Hunan Provincial Patent Awards, including one second-place and one third-place Hunan Provincial Patent Award. In 2024, its “960MPa Yield Strength Quenched and Tempered Steel” was recognized by World Metal Bulletin as a high-value patented product in the steel industry.
